WYSIWYG ("Wiz-ee-wig") - What You See Is What You Get

For our purposes - here are some of the WYSIWYG features we will be using the most of:

Pasting from Word

Utilizing the "Paste from Word" will be helpful in bringing in unformatted text.

Templates

The templates button provides a variety of layouts for images and text.

Linking Text

Relative vs Absolute URLs

  • Use Relative for linking internal ( /athletic-trainers, /career-development)
  • Use Absolute for linking externally (google.com, msn.com)

Highlight the text you would like to link to external/internal URLs. Under the next tab "Target", you may adjust how the new URL opens (in a new window).  For good SEO practice, do not use "click here" terminology. Use keywords to link.

Inline Styles

H2

H3

H4

Search engines read the HTML and catch the relevance of heading tags. An H1 is top level and will have significant weight for search ability.  An H1 will have more weight than say an H4. For good SEO - the H1 tag is being used in the header "Athletic Training".

We will utilize the other H2, H3 stylings for other sub-header and important information.

This can be used in the WYSIWYG under the Styles dropdown

For regular body text - we will want to utilize NORMAL styling.

An example:

"Results Initiatives. We'll revolutionize your business." <<< H2 tag

"Instead of pushing your employees and sales team, motivate them using..." <<< H4 tag

Body text <<< Normal
